All successful businesses require exceptional skill and talent. However, all that brainpower at some point needs to be translated into a service and/or product that provides value to your customer. That translation process typically requires a physical infrastructure to help create the service and/or product. Employing the right physical infrastructure can be the difference between an outstanding financial quarter and just getting by. DEBCO Tech has experience in developing a physical infrastructure for most businesses. Some of the typical capabilities we employ are:
For example. Computing hardware usually requires a controlled environment to function properly. For most businesses, the temperature and humidity requirements can be satisfied by an HVAC system. However, a room full of computing equipment can produce a large amount of heat. Consequently, the HVAC must be sized to handle the additional heat load from the localized computer equipment.
Many computing devices operate on 120 VAC, 60 Hz, single-phase power. Other equipment requires 240 VAC, 60 Hz, single-phase power. However, this voltage requires special wiring and plug for the outlet.
Other devices may operate on 240VAC, 60 Hz, three-phase power. That requires special wiring in the wall from the circuit breaker panel to the outlet.
Should an electrical device require a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI), that is another electrical infrastructure that needs special consideration.
Your overall power requirements may exceed the capacity in the building you are using, or planning to use, to house your small business. A room full of laptops, PCs, monitors, printers, servers, Internet modem, WiFi antennas, TV set, a coffee pot, etc., can easily draw more power than the room was originally designed to provide. Even if you are having no difficulties now, you could be on the threshold of throwing a circuit breaker.
An easy assessment of individual room power requirements versus circuit breaker provisions could save you a lot of angst in the future. The assessment will also help you plan and budget for a larger circuit breaker panel and rewiring cost to accommodate future growth, such as hiring another employee with their own laptop, plus your printer and desk lamp.
Emergency power capability is covered here in Disaster Recovery.
Sometimes a computing device requires its own ground, separate from the building ground.
DEBCO Tech has established business relationships with contractors who have the necessary skills and experience in satisfying computing system power and grounding requirements.
DEBCO Tech can assist you in defining your total physical infrastructure requirements whether you are just starting out or planning on expanding your business.
